How it Happens

Soak shirts in a soda ash solution (sodium carbonate/washing soda).  Ring them out.  Twist, gather, bunch or tie and place in a colander  tray.  Cover with ice.  Apply fiber-reactive dye powder--wear a mask! Go live your other life for 20-24 hours (unless you have absolutely nothing else to do and like to watch and listen to ice slowly melting).  Soak the dyed shirts in cold, then hot water for another 12+ hours (this eliminates rinsing in running water; it takes longer but uses much less water). Wash in hot water. Never get tired of pulling each and every creation out of the dryer.  Repeat.
